CORE, the Coordination of Robotics Education Program, a program of the University of Houston, College of Technology, was founded to promote robotics as a tool to motivate students to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields throughout their education, and to pursue STEM related careers.  This mission is accomplished through workshops, competitions and special events.

CORE accomplishes its mission by providing workshops, competitions, special events and support to educators, schools and community groups participating in youth robotics programs.   Last year, CORE programs, workshops, and special events reached more than 4200 persons with the message that youth robotics is an effective tool for motivating youth to higher levels of study of STEM topics.

CORE responded to a need for educator training in youth robotics by developing and presenting a series of workshops each year.  Educators learned classroom strategies for integrating robotics studies, programming, robot design and construction, team management and program funding strategies.  CORE served educators from Galveston, Laredo, the Valley, Dallas, Austin and of course, the Greater Houston/Harris County area. CORE continues to growth both the number of special events held and in the number of participants reached.  Due in part to CORE activities, youth robotics is steadily growing in our community.
