Farrokh Attarzadeh ( FAttarzadeh@central.uh.edu ) has more than 29 years of combined industry, education and consulting experience. He is responsible for the senior project capstone in the computer engineering technology program, directs the CLABS project for the Computer Engineering Technology program and tinkers with electromechanical folk-art as a vehicle to attract K7-K12 students to the field of engineering and engineering technology. His background also includes autonomous robot design and software development.

Enrique Barbieri( EBarbieri@central.uh.edu ) currently chairs the Department of Engineering Technology. He has published in the area of control of redundant robots and flexible manipulators. As part of a NASA Langley grant, he developed models and control strategies for the Shuttle RMS. He teaches in the interdisciplinary areas of signals and systems. While at Tulane University , he guided 13 undergraduate theses, 6 of which received engineering Honors.

Victor J. Gallardo (vjgallar@uh.edu) has experience in industry, education and research institutions. He is currently the Instructional Lab Manager for the CETE and EPTE programs. He has participated in the implementation of hands-on learning experience using robots as real applications of Science, Technology and Math in high schools. As consultant, he has developed computer-based lab experiments for Science and Math. His research is oriented to real time image processing with applications in human and computer vision. His background includes hardware design for robotics, control, sensors and multiple interfaces to microprocessor, DSP, and microcontroller-based systems.

Karen Cohen (kcohen2@uh.edu ; core@uh.edu) began her involvement with science education and outreach by working with the Texas Science Olympiad at Texas A&M. Ms. Cohen founded the Gulf Coast Regional Science Olympiad, a Houston-based science and technology tournament for middle and high school students. Ms. Cohen has been a long-time robotics enthusiast and has coached an E.A.R.L.Y. (Engineering And Robotics Learned Young) robotics team for young children. Ms. Cohen's background is in special event development, technical writing and education/outreach.

Christopher J. Culbert (chris.culbert@nasa.gov) is Deputy Division Chief of the Automation, Robotics, and Simulation Division at NASA/Johnson Space Center. In addition to working on space robotics for NASA, he has helped to organize education outreach efforts that expose K-12 kids to science and engineering through robotic competitions. Mr. Culbert directly participates in planning and managing six different robot competitions (BEST, FIRST, FIRST Lego, Botball, etc.) that involve over 3000 kids in the Houston area.

Lucien Q. Junkin ( Lucien.Q.Junkin@NASA.gov ) is a robotics engineer in the NASA Johnson Space Center Automation, Robotics, and Simulation Division.  During his career, he has contributed to the Space Shuttle, Space Station, and Advance Exploration projects.  Currently, he is a member of the Robonaut Project, which is developing humanoids and other robots for exploration of the Moon and beyond.  He is also a member of the NASA Robotics Education Alliance that supports K-20 (?) robotics education programs.  Mr. Junkin has directed and assisted with the coordination of many Houston-based robotics competitions and is the founder of the Engineering And Robotics Learned Young (EARLY – www.EARLYrobotics.org) program.
